Overview

On-Demand Transit is a shared-ride service that lets riders request trips in real-time through a mobile app or over the phone by selecting a pickup point and destination.

  • Where Can I Travel To?

  • Getting Picked Up
    • Your vehicle will pick you up within a block or two of your doorstep or a nearby location / intersection. The average walk to a pick-up or drop-off location is 100 metres.

  • Wait Times
    • The maximum wait time is one hour. Using a rideshare service means you may need to make a detour so you can pick up another rider. The maximum detour time to accommodate a ride share is 20 minutes.

  • Cancellations
    • There is a $1.50 cancellation fee if you cancel after 60 seconds of booking completion.

  • Minimum age
    • Riders 13 to 18 years can ride alone with the consent of their parents. Riders under the age of 13 years need to be accompanied by an adult.

TransCab is available to Niagara Falls residents not residing in/near current routes. Riders use a taxi service provider to connect them to and from the city transit system at zone-specific transfer hubs.

  • Book a ride
    • Travelling to the TransCab Zone
      1. Call Central Taxi at (905) 358-3232 prior to your trip on Niagara Region Transit, and inform the OnDemand operator when and at which Transfer Point the taxi needs to meet you.
      2. When you board the bus, ask the vehicle operator for a transfer.
      3. The taxi will meet you at the transfer point. Show the transfer to the taxi driver, who will take you to your destination in the TransCab Zone.

    • Travelling from the TransCab Zone
      1. Call Central Taxi at (905) 358-3232, and tell the operator your pick-up location and the time and to which Transfer Point you need to meet your bus.
      2. Pay your fare to the taxi driver and ask for a transfer receipt, which will be accepted by your bus operator.
      3. The taxi will pick you up and take you to the Transfer Point for your bus connection.

    • Chippawa Parkway
      • The TransCab Transfer Points for this zone are Lyon's Creek and Sodom Road and the Chippawa Parkway and Portage Road. Chippawa Parkway and Front Street from Norton Street to West of Thomas Street.

    • Stanley Avenue South/Lyon's Creek Road
      • The TransCab Transfer Point for this zone is at the corner of Drummond Road and McLeod Road. 
        • Chippawa Parkway East of Niagara SPCA to Stanley Avenue
        • Rexinger Rd. south of Stanley Avenue, West of Ort Road

    • Glenview
      • The Glenview zone is in effect Monday to Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to midnight. Sundays and holidays 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. The TransCab Transfer Point for this zone is the Bus Terminal at Bridge Street and Erie Avenue. 
        • Ferguson and Buttrey Streets and all side streets between River Road and Victoria Avenue

TransCab is available in an area of West St. Catharines where buses do not currently provide service. A vehicle will pick you up in the current TransCab service zone and drop you off at a bus stop in the drop off zone. The drop off zone is programmed in the App, but includes most bus stops west of Martindale Rd./Louth St.

  • Where can I travel to?
    • Going to the West St. Catharines TransCab area
      • Book your ride and be sure to note the bus stop that you will be picked up at. Arrive at the bus stop for the pick up time and wait for your bus to arrive. Pay your fare when you board the bus.
    • Travelling from West St. Catharines TransCab area
      • Book your pick up and be ready for the pick up window. The bus will drop you off at the bus stop you select closest to your destination or transfer point.
