The Future of Transit in Grimsby

In a new episode of Grimsby Connected, host Daniel Vandersteen sits down with Niagara Transit General Manager Carla Stout, to talk about what's coming for transit in Grimsby and West Niagara.

Grimsby hasn't had fixed bus service before. Riders currently rely on Niagara Transit Plus, a pre-booked service that needs to grow with the demand. Carla explains how years of trip data from that service now inform where Niagara Transit builds its next routes, including a planned regional bus line connecting St. Catharines to the Winona crossing in Hamilton. That line would serve the new GO station directly, giving Grimsby residents a fixed, no-booking-required way to reach the train and connect to HSR service in Hamilton.

The conversation also covers how transit fares get set, why access to public transit matters for local economic development, and what support Niagara Transit is asking from the Town of Grimsby as it plans for 2027.
